How do I start an ecommerce store?

Typically if you have decided to create an ecommerce store for your business you have two options. First is to ask a web developer to create an ecommerce website for you or you can use one of the ecommerce management platforms that help you do that on the fly. Zoafia however is the easiest way to create an ecommerce website for your business in Nigeria

How much will it cost me to create an ecommerce store?

It depends on what features you want your store to have. There are features that you should have though. A way to receive payments online right from your store is one of them. From then it depends on your specifications. Electronic receipts, a salessheet, shop analytics, chats are all other features you may want your store to have. In Nigeria, typically, we have found that web developers charge around N200,000 to create an ecommerce website for you.

How does Zoafia store work?

Zoafia allows you to create an instant ecommerce website for your business already integrated with business tools just by fully signing up. In the process of signing up, you set important details about your shop, like name, address, phone numbers, emails, logos banners, your shop policies (delivery, return etc) and an account number where you want your customers to pay directly into for zPay. After onboarding you have a personalized admin dashboard that grants you full access to the features of Zoafia. From there you can upload your products and setup extra details on your shop. By default Zoafia will provide you with a personal url for your shop at https://mystore.zoafia.com. This link is already protected for online purchases meaning you can start sharing it to your customers to invite them to come purchase from your store. If you want a personalized link, contact our help desk and we'll be happy to assist you.

How will I upload products on my store?

At sign up you have access to your admin dashboard. From there you can add new products to your store. Go to My Products > Add new product.

Who will visit my store?

Your customers! Zoafia allows you to set up your own ecommerce platform that also means you have to invite your customers to come purchase from you. Just like if you own a blog (or maybe an instagram page). When you signup and set up your store, you have a personalized url to your shop that you can find in "my shop details" section of the dashboard. You can share that url on your social media handles and invite your customers to come and buy. Also you can now create facebook, google, twitter or instagram ads that link back to your store.

How will I advertise my store to online or offline customers?

The way people visit your store is through your store link (you can find it in "my shop details" section of your dashboard) Sharing that link on social platforms or creating ads will allow your customers to click through and come to your shop. For offline customers, you can put that link in fliers or your business cards or in billboards or as part of your store addresses.

How long will it take to set up an e-commerce store for my food company?

Depends. If you want to create your e-commerce store using a platform like Zoafia then it's a couple of minutes away. However if you want to create it by yourself, it will depend on the features you want and the competence of the developers building it

Can my store be advertised on facebook?

Definitely. This is one of the key benefits you have if you own your e-commerce store. Your Zoafia store can be advertised on every social platoform and even have it's own ranking on google. Meaning that if your search engine optimization is good enough your store can rank high in related searches on google.

Can I access my store offline?

Not as of now. For now you can only access your store when you are connected to the internet.

Do I have to be an internet junkie before owning an online store

You don't have to be an 'internet junkie' per say but a good knowledge of digital trends can be an advantage. Zoafia is made so that you don't have to be an expert to be able to use it. If you have ever used facebook, or instagram you are already more than smart enough to create and run your store on Zoafia. Our help desk can answer any questions you don't understand about anything you want to do in your store.

How will my online products be delivered to customers?

You can deliver your products to your customers either by yourself or by using the Zoafia Seamless Integrated Delivery SID. To use SID just log into your shop, go to “My Deliveries”, choose to integrate with our partner Sendbox.ng, fill the brief form and submit! Then make sure your products have attached weights and the appropriate product category is listed, you can update this by editing the product. After this your store is ready to go.

Can I sell any item not relating to my brand on my store?

It's your store. You can sell anything you want. For business and brand purposes we advice you to keep what you sell consistent over a theme. Your customers should be able to say "this is a fashion brand" or "this is an electronics store". If you have been selling makeup materials and equipments and suddenly start selling food, it makes your brand seem untrustworthy.

How secure are transactions on Zoafia.com?

Zoafia provides first level subdomains on the fly for all new shops (https://mystore.zoafia.com). These subdomains are automatically secured with a Secure socket Layer/Transport Layer security. What this jibberish means is that links to and within your store will be automatically secured and transaction details of you and your customers are secure and safe. Also Zoafia's payment feature, zPay, does not store card details by itself. zPay partners with Paystack.com which has a level 1 PCI/DSS clearance and is regularly checked by a qualified certificate authority and the Central Bank of Nigeria. Paystack helps zPay secure transactions, securely store transaction details and flags any fraudulent transactions on your store. All these are ready to go in your shop meaning you can start receiving payments immediatey you set up. How do I link my store to my website?

If you already have an existing website and you just want to have a shop linked to it. You can create a store on Zoafia with a url https://mystore.zoafia.com. Then ask your web developer to make a navigation menu or create a button to link your customers to your shop and have that button or nav menu link to your shop

Can my store be linked to my instagram page?

One of the greatest benefits about owning an online store is the ability to retain customers details who purchase from you in a customer database. Having customers purchase from your Zoafia store is the surest way to do that as zBase does that automatically. So it will be to your advantage to incentivize your customers to purchase from your store instead of do a bank transfer. If you have an instagram page for your store, on the profile portion made available for website, add your store url there and as you make product posts you can make a certain discoult for purchases made on your store. You don't actually have to discount the product you can just make it a bit more costly making a bank transfer. So you can say "20% discount if this purchase is made from our store, link in the description above". This will not only cultivate the habit of your customers visiting your store but also allow you to enjoy the hassle free ecommerce management. We have features in the road map that will allow you to sync your instagram store with your Zoafia store so that your customers can make purchases without leaving instagram and everything will be synced. We'll make a public release when it's ready.

Can zoafia.com manage my account in my absence?

It makes business sense for you to manage your store or bring a sidekick to help you do that. Currently we do not have the staff strength to manage individual stores but we built Zoafia in a way to make it as easy as using your Facebook account. However, an ecosystem is our long term vision for Zoafia. A community where store owners meet digital marketers, store managers, delivery agencies, payment infrastructres etc.Currently we don't have store managers in our community but get in touch with our help desk for when we have store managers available.

How long will it take for my customers to receive any order made on my store?

Since stores handle deliveries themselves meaning you will handle the deliveries yourself it will depend on the courier you choose. Different couriers have different delivery rates and expected days. With DHL for example, you can achieve next day delivery for deliveries to the other side of the country and same day delivery for deliveries in the same state. Others have different delivery durations. However, Zoafia has partnered with Sendbox.ng (a delivery platform curator) and this will make your delivery headache much more easier. With Sendbox integrated with your Zoafia store, your customers can even choose the delivery company to deliver items to them. Yes, they can choose because your store will make available all possible delivery partners to make the delivery and your customers can choose which one they want.

On what domain will my store be hosted?

Do I need to have a domain name before creating my online store?

No you don't. Zoafia provides first level subdomains on the fly for all new shops (https://mystore.zoafia.com). These subdomains are automatically secured with a Secure socket Layer/Transport Layer security.

Will Zoafia host my webstore on an already existing domain?

Zoafia will automatically provide a subdomain for you. If you have purchased a domain or you already have a domain and you want to use that, contact our help desk and we'll be ready to assist you.

Will hosting my webstore by zoafia cost me extra charges?

No, Zoafia charges NGN3,000 per month for all webstores on it.

If I already have a domain, can my store be hosted on it?

Yes, if you have a domain, contact our help desk and we'll be ready to assist you.

Are there monthly charges for getting hosted on Zoafia’s domain asides the initial #3,000 to be charged for monthly maintenance?

No, it's just NGN3,000 charged at the end of the month.

Is there an already existing delivery system with zoafia or will I have to handle that myself?

You don’t have to handle your deliveries yourself. You can use Zoafia’s Seamless Integrated Delivery platform and integrate your Zoafia store with our partner Sendbox.ng. This will allow your orders to be automatically received and delivered by Sendbox.ng

If Zoafia has a delivery system already, will I still have to charge my customers for deliveries?

If you're using Zoafia's Seamless Integrated Delivery to fulfil deliveries with external partners, like Sendbox you don't have to as your store will automatically charge them and fund your delivery account on the delivery partner's platform. The seamless integrated delivery is only in place to help you with deliveries. You can opt out should you choose to, or you already have a delivery package in place with another company. In that case you can charge your customers

In case of damages in delivering products to customers, will I be responsible for the loss or Zoafia?

The seamless integrated delivery only serves as an infrastructure to connect your shop seamlessly to delivery partners. Meanining the responsibility is ultimately yours and the delivery partner. While Zoafia will not be liable to any damages or misdirection of products, we're certainly willing to help resolve any delivery related issues. Contact our Helpdesk.

Can I sell my products to customers outside the country?

Yes you can sell your product outside the country. zPay partners with Paystack which can receive money from outside the country. However if you plan to sell your products outside the country contact the help desk, there are additional tips we want to give you and setup you may need to do.Additionally, if you have international customers and want to deliver your products outside the country, contact Zoafia help desk to help you set up your store.

What delivery system will be used. If I sell my products internationally.

If you opt to use Sendbox via Zoafia, you can ship internationally as sendbox has DHL, FedEx and a couple of other delivery platforms that ship internationally under their api coverage.

What are the charges for delivering products outside the country?

The charges are different depending on where in the world you are shipping to and which delivery partner your customer chooses to deliver the good to them. If you are shipping a product from Lagos to Nairobi for e.g. Sendbox will return a list of available delivery partners shipping to Nairobi and their associated costs, your customer can then choose a partner to deliver to her. The extra delivery fee will be deducted along with the cost of the items on her cart. The item costs from your store is paid to you and the delivery cost is paid to the delivery partner.

What mode of marketing does Zoafia use in generating sales?

Zoafia, generally, is not a marketplace. So you will not come to Zoafia.com and find items to buy. Zoafia is an ecommerce management platform that allows Nigerian merchants set up an instant ecommerce website for their businesses. Meaning Zoafia helps you set up your website so that you can sell and market to your customers from there.

What is zPay and how does it work?

zPay is Zoafia's internal payment feature. In Nigeria, zPay partners with Paystack to help you move payment from your customer's account (via a debit card or direct bank account) into your account. All you have to do is tell zPay which Nigerian account you wish to collect your money.

Any extra charges to use zPay? If yes, how much will I be charged?

Yes, there are charges because zPay uses an external payment partner. The amount to be charged is usually a percentage of the money being transferred accross. For details on exact amount and why it is so visit our zPay and Partners page
